Inspired from their trips to Arizona, the owners of this Riverside rowhouse wanted a desert feel to their front yard. They loved the rock, rusted metal, and plants they had seen in southwest-style gardens.

The big spruce tree was preserved and lush grasses and grey and purple toned perennials and succulent type plants were planted in the pea gravel and river rock beds. The Corten steel planters, a big ‘wow’ factor, not only provide privacy from the street but act as a retaining wall for the raised level of the yard. The cedar walkway and fencing bring in another texture and soften the wood and steel.

This lush desert look is fairly easy to maintain with some basic weeding and watering, and it offers such striking curb appeal!
